FAQ

Why the name Anchored State?
If you're looking for a lovely sea-themed anecdote, you won't find it here. My Sperry's have only known lakeside summers and my old college campus. I'm terrified of open water, but I've learned that anchors come in handy when when facing life's raging tides....or whatever the proper nomenclature is.

What is your diagnosis?
Bipolar disorder II, PTSD, self harm, and bulimia nervosa.

Why did you start blogging?
I've been blogging on and off since I was 11. From Neopets to graphic design- writing and art have always been my outlets. I'm blogging right now because I have something to talk about. Something that needs to be talked about.

Aren't you afraid of people's reactions?
Yes and no. Did you know that we know more about outer space than the depths of the ocean? To me, mental illness is that ocean no one knows about. People will always judge; words hurt and alienation sucks, but I'd gladly take that risk if it meant getting my message and my story out there. Split life living isn't healthy.

Do you go to school/ what are you studying?
I've always been a non-traditional student. It's something I both admire and resent. I've been on leave since last October and hope to start again soon.

I started college when I was 16, so I bounced around quite a bit before finding my path. That being said, I went from majoring in half the College of Arts and Sciences (and School of Engineering and School of Business) to just putting all my focus into Psychology.

You're so pro-Greek life. Are you in a sorority?
I am pro-Greek life, but I'm not in a sorority. I'm a total GDI. I did pledge Sigma Sigma Sigma last year, but de-pledged a few weeks before initiation. I will always love my sister-friends, but I had to do me before I could even begin to take on the world behind letters.

Who designed your blog?
I did. It took some tinkering around, but I came up with something I like. For now, anyway.
